Fall 2001 - Spring 2003
While a graduate student at the University of Georgia, I taught three classes of Photo I and one class of Photo II. While I very much enjoyed working on extended projects in Photo II, I also found great pleasure in leading students through all the discovery and technical issues of Photo I. The moment that paper first enters the developer is magic. And as only maybe half of my students would go on to be Photo Majors, I felt my role was largely to perpetuate that magic for whatever medium the students would carry it into. Amongst these are my samples of individual photographs from Photo I, and samples from larger series that were created for portfolio reviews for Photo II. These Photo II students all were accepted into the program, and went on to complete the BFA Photo Major at UGA. They dealt with themes such as gender issues, identity, self-portraits, and politics. They were hard-workers, and these image scans do their efforts little justice. I wish luck to them all. |
